Stadium Glass

While watching the Super Bowl today I couldn’t help myself from thinking about the use of Stadium Glass and how fenestration is applied to the design of today’s NFL stadiums. Glass is strategically placed in new stadium designs to enhance the views from interior spaces overlooking the playing surface. A large bank of windows can highlight outdoor scenery while at the same time providing ample visibility into the facility. When used appropriately, stadium glass provides a sense of elegance despite the overwhelming size of the arena.

Stadium Glass Video Collection

To take a more in-depth look at how stadium glass is incorporated into the design of the NFL’s most impressive facilities take a quick peek at this collection of videos depicting some of the NFL’s most prominent stadiums.

Atlanta Falcons New Stadium

Since the Atlanta Falcons have earned a spot in the big game today, it seems appropriate to start off with a video of their new stadium. In the Atlanta Falcons Mercedes-Benz Stadium preview video below, you can see how glass can be incorporated into interesting geometric shapes to create a unique look.

Superbowl 2017 Tour of NRG Stadium

With over 100 million people watching the Super Bowl today in the USA alone, we better include a video of the Houston Stadium. Notice how the curved glass was incorporated into the full height exterior wall.

The Colts Lucas Oil Stadium

While this stadium seems very basic in its design, it is actually quite impressive. Take note of the giant wall of glass at the end of the stadium. It serves two distinct purposes. For fans inside the stadium the wall of glass offers a striking view of downtown while also creating a source of natural light inside the venue.

US Bank Stadium: Home of the Vikings

The structure is a mix of hard deck roof, translucent polymer roofing and a ground to roof wall built entirely of glass. Check out this stadium tour video as well as the time lapse video of the construction of the Minnesota Vikings U.S. Bank Stadium Construction. If you like the full-sized glass door on the front of your home, you will undoubtedly be impressed by the giant stadium glass doors incorporated into the design of the U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings.

The New NFL Los Angeles Stadium

Situated in Carson CA this state-of-the-art facility will be home to both the Raiders & Chargers.

No Stadium Glass Here!

We have come a long way since the 1956 NFL championship game. This classic battle was played in front of the famous frieze at Yankee Stadium. The game was just one of the eight pre-Super Bowl title games that were played in New York.
